The Atlanta branch of the International Rescue Committee is looking for assistance in settling 900 Afghan families on their way to the US. Current immigration law categorizes the Afghan refugees as “humanitarian parolees” and thus are required to be self-sufficient within 90 days. US safety net programs are not available to families with this status.
