NEWSBRIEF: Emory University Professor connects Atlanta Killings, Evangelism and Asian Wars

Dr. Helen Jin Kim is Assistant Professor of American Religious History at Emory University. Dr. Kim studies U.S. history and religion, with a focus on the Pacific and Asian America. She is author of Race for Revival: How Cold War South Korea Shaped American Evangelical Empire (Oxford University Press, forthcoming) and co-author of Family Sacrifices: The Worldviews and Ethics of Chinese Americans (Oxford University Press, 2019), with Russell Jeung and Seanan Fong. Kim’s research has been supported by the Louisville Institute, National Endowment for the Humanities, Forum for Theological Exploration, and Harvard University’s Korea Institute, Charles Warren Center for American History and Center for American Political Studies. In 2020, she was awarded the Provost’s Teaching Award for Excellence in Graduate and Professional Education, and the On Eagle’s Wings Excellence in Teaching Award. Kim is the first Asian American woman and faculty of Korean descent at the Candler School of Theology at Emory.
